ATHLETIC REMINDER

This is a reminder that Season 1 sports, Cross Country, G. Tennis, G. Golf, is in season.  Football is only allowed to condition at this time. G. Soccer, Softball and baseball have also started conditioning. If you are interested in participating please complete your athletic clearance at https://www.athleticclearance.com/. We are still required to run our practices in pods of no more then 27, so get cleared asap. Athletic UPDATE

Each League has developed seasons of sport calendars (for all sports offered) for our league.  Attached is our new seasons of sport.  We have been given flexibility to develop two new seasons of sport to give our students every opportunity to participate in athletics.

Cross Country, Girls Tennis and Girls Golf starts on Monday February 1st. Please contact your coach with any sports specific questions. Each sport is limited to pods of 27 and all participants must wear a mask at all times. The State of California has put all CIF sports into specific colors so as we move into new colored tiers more sports will be able to begin.

All students interested in participating in athletics must have a physical dated after 5/1/2020.  You must create an account with a parent/guardian on athleticclearance.com where online signatures are required.  You must also upload your most current physical on athleticclearance.com.  All cleared students must also download and complete EGUSD COVID Waiver. 2020-2021 Athletic Clearance & COVID waiver

Athletic Clearance

At Monterey Trail we use an online clearance process to clear our athletes. The website is www.athleticclearance.com

ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY

Every student who wants to participate in a sport must complete and have signed by a parent/guardian the following forms: 1. Physical / Medical Insurance (Mandatory) 2. Emergency Information (Mandatory) 3. Agreement for Team Participation (Mandatory) 4. Student Alternate Transportation Form (Mandatory) 5. Sudden Cardiac Arrest Form (Mandatory) 6. Concussion and Head Injury Information Sheet (Mandatory) 7. Student Personal Automobile Use Form (Optional) Athletes must have a yearly physical from a qualified physician who completes the medical examination report. In order to be accepted for athletics, the physical must be completed after May 1, 2020 of the school year in which the athlete plans to compete. Completed papers should be given to the head coach/athletic director depending on the site’s athletic department policy.

Students will need to create an account and upload a current physical after May 1st, 2020 for the School year of 2020-2021. You must be academically eligible from final term 1 grades to tryout for a fall sport.

EGUSD Sports Physical Examination Form 20-21

Elk Grove Unified School District (“EGUSD”) is complying with guidance and taking reasonable steps to mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19. However, this risk cannot be completely eliminated and EGUSD cannot guarantee that you and/or, if applicable, your student(s)/child(ren) will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, participating in the EGUSD athletic program and related events and activities (“Athletic Program”) could increase your and/or, if applicable, your student(s)/child(ren)’s risk of contracting COVID-19. Consequently, for the safety of our staff, students, parents, and other visitors, EGUSD requires all persons participating in its activities during this pandemic to acknowledge an assumption of the risk, waive (i.e. release) liability, and agree to abide by our COVID-19 protocols.  Please print all three pages sign and bring to your conditioning period.

Statement Regarding Education-Based Athletics for 2020-21 School Year

Season 1 sports are on hold, effective December 7th (FB) and December 14th (Cross Country, D7 Soccer, Water Polo-B&G, Girls Volleyball, Badminton), practices and competition are on hold until the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), in conjunction with the State of California Governor’s office, release return-to-activity guidelines. The CIFSJS will be meeting to discuss additional steps and timelines for the SJS.

Basketball Conditioning – POSTPONED

All interested basketball athletes must complete and submit the EGUSD COVID RELEASE FORM as well as complete the online clearance process at athleticclearance.com. You must turn in a hard copy of COVID form as well as be cleared on athleticclearance.com. For sports specific questions please contact coaches below.

E-learning, Distance and Hybrid Coursework Update

In an effort to provide clarity to students and parents making decisions regarding the 2020-2021 academic year, the NCAA Eligibility Center is providing additional guidance regarding distance, e-learning or hybrid options made available by schools with NCAA-approved core courses. The Eligibility Center will continue to monitor the environment and make determinations on extension of other COVID-19 relief policies as more information becomes available.
